Help A Horse Updates
The cats rescued are very sweet! There were about 9 or 10 of them, but 2 of them were adopted. They arrived scared, hungry, and helpless as strays. 2 of the kittens have great homes, and the others are still waiting! They have little training, and they need a family who is willing to work with them. All of the cats are sweet and beautiful! Email President@helpahorsenow.org to learn more.
Our new domain! We bought a new domain for our website which is now www.helpahorsenow.org! We bought it in November right before Christmas. It's a great website and it's really informative!
Eve went jumping this Saturday and did a fine job! She jumped the foot jump like it was a trotting pole! She did so well! This week we are going to jump her a little higher, like 1 1/2ft. She needs to work on her balance and upper body strength. She is really smart, and she has jumped before, she just needed to review her skills.
The new newsletter! The new newsletter used to be named "Moonlight", but that wasn't a good name, and since we moved our website, we had to change our newsletter's look and name! Legacy Lines was a great name to remember Legacy! Our new newsletter also includes different topics and stories, to make it more interesting, and to help the animals in need! This newsletter also had LOTS of news and updates emailed to Help A Horse, so this newsletter is a little longer than usual. Our new website is www.helpahorse.i67.org. We may be changing that website around a little bit, but it is good for right now.
Also remember, if you need any dogs or cats posted on the website, it is absolutely free. We will post any and every dog that needs help! Just email the animal to helpahorse@gmail.com and your email will be read.

February's Urgent Animal of the Month- Deamon and Kita
Kita and Deamon were both strays. They are both Huskies, and are very sweet, but are very neglected. Deamon is a little shy and is depressed. Both are skinny, and need someone to give them attention and love. Kita is also very skinny, and she looks pregnant. Kita and Deamon are both around 2 years old. Both have beautiful blue eyes, and they could both be wonderful additions to any home! If they are not rescued soon, they will go to animal control, if they go there they may not get a second chance! If you are interested in helping Deamon or Kita, or both, please email:
February's Horse 4 Adoption- Natalie
Natalie is a beautiful 3 year old Thoroughbred who is looking for a home! She has been waiting, since she arrived. She can walk, trot, and is working on her canter. She used to be a racehorse, before she was rescued by DEFHR. Natalie is doing very well. She can be a little slow, and she is a little stubborn sometimes, but she understands what you want her to do. She's very beautiful and she loves attention. She can be a little pushy on the ground, but she's only 3! She is about 16h, and is bay. Juli made this Natalie movie for this newsletter last minute!

Horse 4 Adoption Updates
Samson, the October Horse 4 Adoption was adopted! He went to a nice home where he will get the training he needs. He's going to be a great horse one day!
Java, the November's Horse Adoption MAY BE getting adopted! Her potential adopters like her very much! Adoption Pending!
February's Dog 4 Adoption- Rufus

Rufus was rescued by Dogs Deserve Better. He is a pretty Shepherd mix, and loves people! He is dog aggressive, but he is really sweet (just look at his face!). He is being neutered soon, and he is getting proper vetcare. Since he was chained outside his entire life, he will need a dedicated family to teach him basic commands. He is a young dog that needs your help! He is really sweet, so please give him a chance. He hasn't been properly introduced to cats yet, so that is unknown. If you are interested in this guy, please read the contact info below.

Sad News
Tinkerbell is the newest arrival at Days End. She is in really bad condition, but she is getting better! She used to be so weak, she couldn't stand on her own. She needed a sling. Now, she is doing so well, she is walking by herself, she is eating right and is really happy with her friend Fabio (who is available for adoption!!). Tinkerbell's old owners were very cruel to her. They starved her purposely. They had a pile of hay right in front of Tinkerbell, but tied Tinker up so she wasn't able to reach it. This is TORTURE. Do not let people do this to our animals! PLEASE donate NOW to your local equine rescue so they can educate people about animal care!
Willow, is not doing so well. Her last owner decided they didn't want her anymore because Willow damaged her leg. Willow did something to her tendon that made her lame. She is getting better, but no one is sure if she is ever going to be able to get ridden again. If she is able to get ridden it will be very LIGHTLY. Willow is one of those horses that is always getting hurt...so they are not sure what they are going to do with her, either put her up for adoption, or keep her.
Lightening, a pigmy goat is also not doing too well. She is not eating, and is very sick. She almost died a week ago, but she is hanging in there. She is very old, so she will probably leave us soon! She also lays around a lot, and doesn't care much about her surroundings.
Happy News
Roulette, a horse up for adoption has 2 adoption appointments! She is a little stubborn and just acts like a mare when being ridden, but she is very sweet and good on the ground. She did have a few adoption appointments before, but no one was interested. Roulette can be a sweet and good horse when she wants to be in the saddle. She has a beautiful trot and an amazing canter. If you are interested, it isn't too late to call to make an adoption appointment, ( 301) 854-5037 or (410) 442-1564
Robin, a beautiful mare is getting adopted! Robin is a 17 year old mare, who LOVES to jump and canter around! She has a beautiful color, and is so cute! Unfortunately, the pictures of Robin, won't download, so we can't post any pictures here at the moment. Robin is just like Legacy because she loves to get attention and she stands absolutely still when being groomed! She's leaving soon!
Uli, another horse at DEFHR, went to get some professional training! She is such a sweetheart! She's so tiny, and she is very smart! Her color is pure black just like Java. You have to call to meet her!

Juli and Eve
Eve is an amazing horse. She can do whatever you tell her too. Her trot is bouncy, and her canter is fast, but she is such a sweet girl! She's so smart too. She used to jump and do dressage before she was returned. We decided to jump her. She hasn't jumped in months, so we didn't want to over do it. The jump was extremely tiny, barely off the ground. We have never seen her jump before, so we wanted to be careful. The jump was almost a foot. She started by just walking over it, so she could get used to lifting her feet up higher, and so she could get used to the jump. She walked over it like it was nothing. After a few times of walking over the jump, we trotted it! She trotted over it the first time, just like it was a trotting pole. She didn't go fast over it, and she didn't go fast afterwards. She kept the same steady pace before and after the jump. Next time, she is going to jump it bigger, maybe a foot and a half. Jumping her will really help with her upper body strength, and it will help her with her balance and coordination. Eve does spook sometimes. While trotting around, there was a frightening yellow piece of paper flying around! Eve cantered away from it as soon as she saw it! We'll have to work on that. She's a great horse!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our monthly newsletter- Legacy Lines! We will be posting the next newsletter in March. Please contact us if you have any questions about the newsletter, or if you have trouble viewing the pictures.
